Three routes with distances and starting points

Choose a start and turnaround before renting a bike. The Port Angeles shoreline and Lake Crescent sections are separate outings; the wider Olympic Discovery Trail includes road connections as well as separated trail. Use the official segment map to follow the correct route.

Elevate Outdoors bike rentals are based at 220 E 1st Street in Port Angeles and require advance reservations. Ask about the seasonal rental window, sizing and carrying bikes before planning a Lake Crescent ride. The Olympic Adventure Trail is a different, unpaved riding route.

Choose a shoreline or lake section

The Olympic Discovery Trail links the peninsula through a mix of separated paths and road connections. Pick the Port Angeles waterfront for a simple local outing, or the Lake Crescent section for a separate day among forest and lake views.

Start and finish at the same trailhead for the easiest return. For a longer point-to-point ride, arrange the transfer alongside the bike rental.

City Pier: the simplest walk from town

Start at City Pier at the foot of Lincoln Street for the paved waterfront route. Walk east, then return to downtown for food and facilities. It is an easy way to get outside after the drive to Port Angeles.

Share the path with cyclists and choose your distance by the time available. A short out-and-back fits comfortably before dinner.

Toward Morse Creek: a longer local ride

The shoreline between downtown and Morse Creek is about 4 miles each way. Ride out for water views and a clear turnaround, allowing for the full 8-mile return outing.

The East Central route continues toward Sequim with different gradients and temporary connections. Use the current segment map for a longer ride.

Spruce Railroad Trail: a separate lake outing

Spruce Railroad Trail follows Lake Crescent’s north shore, with restored tunnels and lake views along the paved main route. Drive to its own trailhead and make it a lake-focused half day.

Carry a light for the tunnels and share the trail with other walkers and riders. The side route at Devils Punchbowl has a different surface from the paved main trail.

Bike hire and transport: settle both before riding

Reserve the bike and trailhead transport together. Ask the rental provider about racks and its carrying rules, and match an e-bike’s range to the planned return distance.

For a point-to-point day, book the return transfer. An out-and-back ride from downtown or the lake is simpler for a casual outing.

Choose a convenient overnight

Book downtown for a waterfront start and restaurants after the ride. Choose a Lake Crescent stay when the lakeshore section is the main activity.

Arrange secure bike storage with the hotel and use current trail alerts for repairs or detours. The official trail map is the starting point for extending the route.
