A downtown circuit, plus two indoor alternatives

Start at Feiro on City Pier, walk along the waterfront to Field Hall, then go up to the First Street bookshop and a meal. That keeps the downtown stops close together. Feiro currently lists winter opening Thursday–Monday, noon–4 p.m.; Field Hall’s gallery lists Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., plus an hour before most events. Feiro opening information and the Field Hall gallery calendar are worth checking before setting out.

The Olympic National Park Visitor Center at 3002 Mount Angeles Road is an indoor stop with exhibits and a park film; it requires a separate trip uphill from downtown. The hero photograph shows its interior. Check visitor-center hours for your date. The Esther Webster Gallery is another uphill alternative; the surrounding Webster’s Woods is outdoors.

Port Book and News is at 104 E 1st Street. Finish the downtown circuit with a meal from the restaurant guide.

01 · A good day, whatever the forecast

Feiro Marine Life Center: a compact marine-life stop

Start at Feiro on City Pier for a close look at marine life from local waters. The compact center works well with children and pairs naturally with a waterfront visit or whale-watching day.

Allow around an hour, longer if the exhibits hold your interest. Its seasonal opening days and afternoon hours fit best into a lunch-and-waterfront circuit.

02 · A good day, whatever the forecast

Esther Webster Gallery: indoor art above town

The Esther Webster Gallery occupies the former Webster residence at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. Visit for the current exhibition and an art stop in a different setting above town.

The neighboring Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park is outdoors, so save it for a break in the rain. Travel separately from downtown for the Fine Arts Center part of the day.

03 · A good day, whatever the forecast

Field Hall: gallery time and an evening show

Field Hall at 201 W Front Street brings gallery visits and live performances to the waterfront. Choose the current show for an evening out or visit the gallery during its daytime hours.

Book a performance from the Field Hall calendar and pair it with dinner nearby. The gallery and ticketed events have separate opening arrangements.

04 · A good day, whatever the forecast

Books and a meal: keep part of the day unstructured

Browse Port Book and News between gallery stops, then sit down for a meal. Chestnut Cottage suits breakfast or lunch; the downtown restaurant guide covers seafood, Italian food and a casual pub evening.

Stay centrally to leave the car parked, change out of a wet layer and head back out for dinner. That convenience is especially useful on a changeable-weather day.

05 · A good day, whatever the forecast

Put the indoor stops into a half day

Start with breakfast and the bookshop or an open gallery. Visit Feiro after its afternoon opening, then leave the evening for dinner or a booked Field Hall show. Use each venue’s hours to settle the order.

Add a short waterfront walk in a break in the rain. In heavy rain or strong wind, keep the day focused on indoor stops; save the forest and mountain outings for suitable conditions.
